Royalty Free Text

Early Access mobile reading site for public-domain classics: saved progress, search, author and collection pages, and 231 hosted titles outside the Kindle garden.

Why we built a reader that starts on the phone

Public-domain books are free in law, but most free reading sites still feel stuck in the past: clunky layouts, weak search, awkward formatting, and no clean way to pick up where you left off outside a walled garden. Royalty Free Text is the phone-first reader Localhost wanted for that habit: a calm page that lets the browser chrome get out of the way so the text can fill the screen.

What is live in Early Access

The site ships saved progress, search, author and collection pages, and an easy path to decide what to read next. It hosts 231 readable titles already, mirrored from public-domain editions and formatted for continuous reading in the browser rather than as a download-first archive.

What remains open

Early Access means the catalogue and reading surface will keep moving. The useful residue for Localhost delivery work is the product thesis itself: free in law is not the same as pleasant to read, and the gap is mostly interface, memory, and discovery.
